Memorial Day Weekend...a time for remembering...a time for "memory". I remember the hot, humid, sultry end of May days in Wisconsin and our "Rock River Riders" saddle club riding in the parade....I hated riding in parades!! However, I got through the agony of sweating like the "last fat girl standing at a Saturday night dance" and persevered!! I knew that later in the day, cheeseburgers and homemade ice cream were on the menu, along with gallons of lemonade, I could "get tough" for that! But wait...I will never forget the memory of my Dad carrying the American flag at the start of the parade and my thoughts, "that's my Dad and he fought in WWII for US! I'll never forget many, too many of my friends and classmates that came home...but in a flag covered coffin – they died for US! When I go to the cemetery on Memorial Day to decorate the graves, I try to remember as much as I can about every person lying there that had an influence on my life...the thoughts are endless. Soon...you and I will hopefully be "remembered" and I pray that there will be good thoughts and tears of joy for who we were and what we did! God Bless.
