Well...here we go...another New Year,,,365 days of challenge, hope, and mystery. I've always been competitive... I don't mean just "play a game"...I mean "I've got to win or it's been a waste of time" competitive and I won't apologize for that attitude. I will NEVER forget sitting in Dr. Walter Blount's office in 1959 as he told my parents I'll probably be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. He said they had done all they could with surgeries and physical therapy to "help" the polio situation and they were at the end of the road. I've never forgotten how bitter and enraged I was, thinking all I had to look forward to was someone "pushing me around". My attitude changed almost immediately and yes, I didn't have a "chip on my shoulder"... I had the whole block of cement!!! When someone told me "I couldn't or shouldn't do something - I did it anyway, to not only "tee them off" but to prove to ME I could do "it". They said "You can't ride cutting horses...I did and I won. They said you can't ride ropin' horses - I did and I won. They said "No announcer from Idaho has ever been chosen for the NFR...I was, 6 times, along with the 1996 Olympics and the 2002 World Equestrian Finals in Spain and many other National events My point is, after the all preceding B.S. is this - We're starting a fresh New Year - "Don't listen to the Negative Ninnys" - Do what you want to do and Do your absolute best...YOU CAN!
