Excuse me?! Who put the calendar on "Warpspeed? Where has 2025 gone and would someone please "hit the brakes"! Maybe it's my "older years" but honestly I feel that "time" whirling away! We're already in "fair time", all the kids heading to the various County Fairs to show their livestock, exhibit all their hard worked projects, go to the carnivals and borrow more money from Dad. I remember the Jefferson County Fair in Wisconsin – 5 big days of showing my horse, eating orange Dreamsicles and getting sick on the Tilt-Awhirl...Man that was living! I lived at the fair and warmly remember the stall cleaning, the water fights, the extreme hot, humid weather and Mom telling me to stay at least halfway "clean and presentable"...didn't happen. I remember the blue champion ribbons..but I remember the 2nd place and lower awards even more. They meant I'd better try harder to succeed and my Dad was the motivating source to do so! On the Sunday after the fair ended and everyone was headed home, I always felt a sadness, kind of a loss, that those good times were gone forever...or a least till next year! Go to a County Fair and enjoy the sights, sounds and smells, but especially enjoy the people – they are the salt of the earth!
