We live by “time” and allocations of “time” for our everyday lives. Whether its “time” for doctor appointments, PTA meetings, high school football games, grocery shopping...whatever!... we need to provide “time” to get everything done. I am early to everything...EVERYTHING, that’s the way I was raised. As a family, we were always 30 minutes early for church, sitting in the parking lot sometimes before the pastor arrived! Being late was not an option, Dad used to say it was a reflection of poor character and a lack of responsibility. When I make an appointment with a doctor, dentist, lawyer or anyone for anything – I expect ALL parties to be on time! Recently I had a doctor’s appointment at 8:30 in the morning – I checked in at the desk at 8:05. The nurse took me to the room at 8:19 and...I waited... and I waited... and I waited! Finally at 9:05 the doctor walked through the door, said “good morning” and...I let him have my verbal barrage. MY time is just as important as his and changing or altering my schedule is extremely frustrating. He had been in his office doing paperwork and left me sit for over a 1/2 hour – not acceptable and I let him know it! We all have 24 hours a day to organize and prioritize our lives and I refuse to let ANYONE change my schedule. Respect for others, also means respecting their “time”, tardiness in MY world is not satisfactory...Look at your watch?
