He gave me a part of his life; he gave me a remembrance of his love to this great Country...America. I've had many gifts and awards presented to me over the years of hosting my talk show and my achievements in Rodeo...but nothing has left me stunned and speechless like the small dark blue box I was given last Thursday. Two men...two retired military veterans, George Maas, U.S. Navy and Mike Campbell, U.S. Army were on my program to discuss the 2024 Idaho Roll Call Memorial event to honor our fallen service members. With about 10 minutes left in the segment, they stated they had something "very special" to announce. Mike Campbell had served in Vietnam and was very severely wounded for his efforts to save others. He was awarded many medals for his heroic bravery and valor and to this day his nickname of "Sixer" meaning I'VE "got your back", explains WHO Mike is! Suddenly, they handed me the small blue box with the Bronz Star medal inside and Mike told me that for my service to the Veterans on the radio – he wanted ME to have this heroic award...I cried. This man...Mike Campbell...was giving me his award for heroic service to our great Country, I was absolutely stunned. For as long as God allows me to live, I will treasure that moment of giving by a real American Hero. God Bless all of our troops, our police, our firefighters, our EMT's...Everyone that puts their lives on the line for our freedom and safety. Remember them and thank them.
