All the hard work, all the thousands and thousands of miles, all the months away from home for silver and gold buckles in a trophy case. The buckles and silver spurs and achievement plaques mean a lot to me NOW...but when I'm gone, they'll probably end up in a landfill. Beautiful hand-crafted buckles from rodeos all over America, presented to me by major prestigious rodeos with iconic history. Each buckle has a story...one reminds me of my induction into four Rodeo Halls of Fame...another brings back the good memories of a team roping partner...we won a Celebrity-Pro Roping and shortly after, he died in an auto accident. My National Finals Rodeo buckles are very important to ME because they prove that with hard work and perseverance you can be the best! My team roping buckles remind me that I can overcome any obstacle or physical challenge and...WIN!! That's NOT to be taken as arrogant, its meant to "NEVER QUIT, NEVER GIVE UP!" One of my favorite buckles is from a military veterans rodeo I announced in 2015. The "rodeo" had special events for the contestants who had suffered the loss of arms, legs, and many were in wheelchairs. Some could ride horses, some could rope and others did WHAT they could to compete as a "Cowboy". I'll never forget when it was over, a team of U.S. Marines had won the first place buckles, and one Marine stopped me as I left the arena and said, "Sir, please take my buckle and remember the United States Marine Corp"!! I cried and still do when I think about his winning competing attitude...from a wheelchair! All the buckles may tarnish, but the memories are glistening bright...that's really worth holding on to...forever.

God Bless
