Do you remember? Do you take the time...the moments to remember those that have passed away, those that impacted your life?? Yesterday Deanne and I visited the cemetery where her parents and family are buried, and placed flowers on the graves. I stood there and "remembered" the good times we had playing pinochle and gin rummy, the dinners and when someone wanted a roll, you didn't pass the bowl – it was thrown to them! (Uncouth I know but fun memories!). I remembered my own parents buried back home in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin and all the trouble and turmoil they went through with my sister and me having polio and the extreme care that was needed. I thought of my Grandpa's and Grandma's, and all the good food, Merry Christmas' and laughter that was shared. I looked at the hundreds of graves, not yet decorated and thought of the many that would not have flowers, because no one cared or remembered. They may have been soldiers, teachers, pastors, mailmen, firemen, and at one time touched so many lives...but now...not remembered. It's so COLD, so impersonal to look down and see a name and the year born and passed away on a gray piece of cement, and NOTHING about the life that person lived. This coming Memorial Day weekend I ask you to pause, stop and remember...a lot of people deserve your thoughts for all they did to help you BECOME you!
God Bless
