The picture on the menu board looked delicious. I ordered it along with another sandwich for Deanne and, of course, a small dish of ice cream for Festus...(Hey..he likes it!) We paid at the first window and progressed to the second, where a smiling employee (probably a trainee starting at $20 bucks an hour!!!) wished us well, handed us the food and we drove off. My lovely bride of over 50 years handed me the sandwich of choice – a "classic crispy chicken with tomato, sauce, lettuce and pickles"...Yeah buddy!....I pause here to gather my words in a civilized tone to explain "what" really was on the "sandwich"....NOTHING!! There was an overly toasted bun with a smaller chunk of what looked like petrified "chicken"? NOT between but somewhat askew on top! I searched the bag for my lettuce, my tomato, my sauce and my pickles to no avail...my chicken laid there...naked and alone! My abrupt loud cursing scared Festus into spilling his ice cream, and Deanne was profoundly shaken with ketchup on her nose! This "glob" of nothing was my $8 sandwich!? I know dear readers, you're probably saying "just go back and tell them you didn't get what you paid for"...uh huh. At 10 mpg and I'm already 5 miles from the Drive in - so, if I turned around, it would cost me $5.15 cents in fuel to try to get a renewed "chicken" sandwich! I KNOW businesses are having labor problems and personnel shortages, but please, isn't there someone to check on my pickles??
