"The way things were...are the way things ought to be!" I've had some "listeners" criticize me for that slogan at the end of my show every day. "You can't live in the past" or "we live in changing times" or "people don't think like you"...really?? Politics was more "debatable" years ago...if you disagreed there wasn't a demented "Cancel Culture" that would ruin you forever. TV shows had "family values" of right and wrong and the "bad guys" paid a price for being against societal laws and norms. Athletes played the game to WIN and carry the coach off the field and NOT be political pawns for a cause. They ALL stood for the National Anthem and bowed their heads in prayer and they became our heroes on Wheaties boxes. Moms and Dads worked hard all week, and on Sunday morning sat with their family in humble prayer at the church of their choosing. Doors were seldom locked because there was a "trust" in our fellow man, NOW, most homes are like secure fortresses to stand off the approaching enemy. We could fly the American flag and look up to it with tears of pride and thankfulness that we do live in the greatness country in the world!! But today there are factions that call us names and demand that our flag is a symbol of racism and hate! Yes...I do long for the return of the "old days", yes, I would love to see a resurgence of "God, apple pie and the 4th of July"!! What is so wrong to want what made this Country great, what is so wrong to want better times and better people?? I stand by my statement... "the way things were, are the way things ought to be" - God Bless America!
