Interesting week, this past week. For starters, I got into a big "tango" with Idaho Power...oh boy! I asked some of the "POWERS that be" to come on my program and discuss Idaho Power's thoughts on going 100% Green Energy in approximately 20 years. After three phone calls, I was told on the third that Idaho Power in no way, shape or form would answer questions on my show because "I'm too political!"... too political!?!?!? On "Zeb at the Ranch" we talk daily about abortion, the economy, President Trump, illegal alien immigration, Medicare... EVERYTHING...and Idaho Power is afraid to answer questions about "Going Green"? I called their local rep, whom I've known for 40 years and left message after message and...NOTHING...crickets! I've talked to many of our top notch legislators and they too, were shocked at Idaho Power's "hide in the closest" attitude. As ratepayers, you and I NEED to know what kind of costs and perhaps hardships may be incurred by "Green Power", do some research and see just how "wonderful" these concepts have worked in Europe, especially Germany and Spain. Hiding from answers, or picking certain media to promote your cause knowing they'll lob softball questions, is nothing more than cowardly and somewhat sinister! I was raised in an old German style household, where if you meet people in an honest straight forward manner, you expect to be treated the same. I told Idaho Power up front, I did not agree with "Green Energy" but instead of they're being "up front"...they ran and hid under their desks, hoping I'll go away...I'M NOT. Today, more than ever before, the public needs to know and be informed about all the "problems" that may change or alter their lifestyle...power is one of them. I urge Idaho Power to come out from under their desks and answer questions about Idaho's energy future. THAT is the right thing to do.
