Memorial Day Weekend...memories...some good, some bad of our past. I know this statement may sound weird, but, remembering the bad many times draws us closer to the good!?? For instance, most of my childhood was filled with bad memories...hospitals, surgeries, doctor appointments, months turning to years of rehab, and...the fear and knowledge I had to go through it again and again and...again! Bad memories to good? ABSOLUTELY! I remember my dear Mom and all that she did and all that she gave up to care for me and ease the mental burden of being "cooped up" in bed. The card games of Canasta, and Battleship and Monopoly and the "unhandy" venture of getting into a wheelchair and going outside! I remember the horses, like ole' Blaze, that would come over to the fence, drop his head and let me scratch him for what seemed like hours. I remember my lil' dog Sandy, never leaving my side and always looking at me with a devilish twinkle in his eye. I remember some of my childhood buddies that would just come over and "sit" with me to pass the time...Later on...I remember some of those same friends went to war...and some came home in a coffin. I remember their service to America and to You and I...good memories...bad memories, but all of them need to be honored and respected this Memorial Day weekend. Sit down this weekend and just "remember", it’s like putting gold in the bank, their value NEVER diminishes – God Bless.
