Can you imagine Porter Waggoner with gaping holes in his jeans?? Can you visualize Dolly Parton looking like a homeless tramp? Or even worse, George Strait with a goofy bird feathered, rolled up, beat up straw hat that says "dude and wussie" all over it???...Never! How about an appointment with your banker and he's sitting behind the desk with a sun shirt that says "Go NAKED in the Bahamas", or your lawyer greets you wearing yoga pants, flip flops and NO shirt at ALL!!?? No....they dress professionally to fit their professions! I dress in western attire everyday, very seldom will anyone see me without Wranglers, boots and a hat. I'm proud of the industry I represent,...horses, cattle and the rodeo business. The time that I wear "tenny runners" out in public are when maybe my foot got stepped on by a horse or going to the doctor because my foot got stepped on by a horse!! I will never forget a very well known cattle buyer that always wore sharply pressed Wranglers, the best of boots always shined, a silver belly hat, clean and creased just right, a white shirt that never had a smudge on it AND a diamond horseshoe ring! This man was impressive, this man was always...professional! This man could go anywhere and the way he presented himself was much more than a tuxedo at a banquet! The old adage of "dress for success" is really true – look the part, act the part and be the part. Recently I read a story about World Champion Team Roper Clay O'Brian Cooper and he said "I choose to hold myself to a standard that allows me to be in control of what I do". How true! When you dress like a homeless bum that doesn't care – you will act that way! When you wear clothing that says "trash" – you will act that way! Unfortunately I've made many mistakes publicly and have probably damaged the "image" I wanted for myself, but I keep trying to be better. How we dress or what we say ARE CONTROLLABLE and like I said, we ALL can do better! Can you imagine Porter Waggoner with holes in his jeans?

Don't forget Dr-History.com! Exciting episodes of the old West!!
