It felt good to remember and laugh...yesterday on my show, one of my guests and I jumped off the political tracks and started to reminisce about days of long-gone good TV. We remembered the absolute belly laughs produced by Tim Conway on "The Carol Burnett Show". Conway was a genius at saying little but creating tons of laughter with his body language. The skit with Harvey Korman as the patient and Conway as the dentist that injects himself with Novocaine...still makes me chuckle. The Andy Griffith Show with the fantastic Don Knotts as "Barney Fife"...WOW! With his chicken neck and scrawny body, Knotts would have me rolling off my chair! Barney with Andy, Barney with Thelma Lou, or Barney with his one bullet going after bad guys...tremendous humor. Then there were the Westerns...oh my do I miss the production and the stories of the old West. Every Sunday night, it was an absolute that my family would be in the TV room, eating cheeseburgers and chips on tray tables, watching "Bonanza"...faithful as goin' to church! "Pa" was the boss, and lil' Joe, Adam and big "Hoss" toed the line and behaved every Sunday night. From "The Rifleman", to "Maverick", "The Big Valley" to "Cheyenne", there were great "saddle up" programs on every night AND the good guys always won and the bad guys ended up in a jail cell...or worse! Watching TV back in the 60's and 70's was wholesome instead of loathsome and made you smile instead of sneer! Today's "GARBAGE" on TV, gives me a dirty sleazy feeling after which you want to take a shower! Roy and Dale used to sing "Happy Trails" and Carol Burnett would say "hi" to her mom by tugging at her ear. Dick Van Dyke would enter his home and barely avoid tripping over the stool and Grandpa Amos has his limp! Steve McQueen had his sawed off Winchester 73 and "McHale's Navy" had their weekly comedy disasters on P.T. 73, Matt Dillon was beat on the draw but never got hit and Hawkeye always had "smart aleck" remarks on "MASH". Those were good TV years and prompt me to say "The way things were, are the way things ought to be"...it felt good to remember and laugh......

Don't forget Dr-History.com! Exciting episodes of the old West!!
