So there you are...sitting on the side of a hill, just watching your sheep. You're probably thinking about a nice hot meal or maybe bein' all snuggled in a cozy bed when...WOW!!...an angel appears and the lights so bright you're terrified and so are the sheep...they don't even BAAAA!! You're first impulse is to cut and run, a particular direction is NOT necessary... JUST RUN!! But the angel said "Don't be afraid! I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord – was born in a manger"... So, about here you've settled down "a bit" when suddenly this angel was joined by a vast host of others – the ARMIES of heaven – praising God and saying, "Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those whom God is pleased!!" Whoa Nellie!...Suddenly the angels returned to heaven, and you look at your fellow "scared outta' your sandals" shepherds and say "Lets go to Bethlehem! Let's see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about"...Can you imagine what these ole' sheep herders were talkin' about as they trudged to Bethlehem?? Holy tape recorders, THAT conversation would have been a "keeper"! Well sir, they finally got to the village and looked here and there and finally Ole' Snag yells out...(excuse me, they called him Snag cause' he was really good at catchin' lambs with the sheep hook), "Hey, over here in the stable!" They found Mary and Joseph and a baby lying in the manger...just like the angel said. After paying their respects and seeing the child, the shepherds left and told everyone what had happened! Everybody, I mean everybody was shocked to hear the shepherds story, and Mary kept all of these happenings in her heart and they were treasured memories. So pretty soon "Ole' Snag" told the rest of the outfit they'd better get back to the sheep, and they did glorifying and praising God all the way!!... this happened over 2000 years ago...the first Christmas...it was just as the angels said, "Hark the Herald angels sing, Glory to the newborn King!!

Merry Christmas!
