Most all of us have a best friend. A friend that is there when the "rocks in the trail" get so big...it's really difficult to keep going. A friend that you can call or sit down and talk to when times are tough and you seem to be at the bottom of the barrel. I've needed friends like that. In Grade School, my best "pard" was Roger. We went fishing and hunting, played baseball on the same team and yes, on a couple of occasions, had a few "fisticuff" confrontations...but we remained "best friends". During my college days, Joe from Statan Island, New York was my best friend. You talk about two different personalities and cultures ---WOW! Me from the Midwest, livestock, cornfields and swimming in the lakes. Joe from basically the "Big Apple", bright lights ALL night, traffic and the Mets and Yankees!...But we were the best of friends. We double dated together, we traveled the country together and we had each others back when trouble arose. After college Joe went to Vietnam, I went west. Joe became severely injured in "Nam" and we reunited in 1972...he came west to see Deanne and I and...I hardly recognized him...war can destroy inside and out. But thank God we've remained friends and converse and email often...he's my friend. Today, there are schools around the globe and "so called" school leadership that are trying to "social engineer" who our children have as "best friends". The bottom line concept is...the "all knowing omnipotent school administrators" want to stop anyone from being "left out"?!? Yup...this social experiment of "No, Johnny, you can't talk to Billy at recess because Artie might feel left out" is beyond ridiculous and ...it's dangerous! Whether it's a drug abuse problem, depression, and suicidal thoughts, health problems... WHATEVER...a best friend can and will be there to aid, comfort and yes...console you! How dare society...any society, dictate and regulate who your friends are or your best friend?? Proverbs 17 verse 17 says "A friend is always loyal" and Proverbs 27 verse 17 "As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend". Parents, if your child has a best friend be rejoiceful – don't let anyone destroy a bond that could be a strong value for the rest of their lives. And...to the liberal crazed socialist "jelly heads" trying to destroy what's left of social values...damn you for being so control oriented, you would destroy a common decency and dependency of humans having...friends!...Thank you, my friends!
