Excuse me??...You think her legs are ugly and she should stay out of your eyesight??!! This past week, Janice Dean, Senior Meteorologist at Fox News, was criticized by a viewer for her...legs...and basically told to cover them up – they're an eye sore! Oh boy!!!look out Melvin, I'm coming back down to earth! The audacity and arrogance, the hurt and embarrassment that this "Simple Simon" must have caused Ms. Dean was "off the charts". Janice Dean, however, handled the situation probably (most likely) better than I would have. After a lot of pain, anger and outrage, she said she took a deep breath and prayed for the person and said if she ever met her..she'd give her a hug...evidently the person needed one! WOW! What a great attitude! Almost 20 years ago...I had a quite similar occurrence and...I didn't react nearly as well as Ms. Dean. I was the emcee for a huge country music concert and after each singer, I walked to the middle of the stage, did a short interview with the performer and then intro the next act. After the final song, I walked down the steps to join my wife and some neanderthal came up to me and said "I sure am sick of seeing you limp across the stage...what are you lookin' for... sympathy?" My German temper went to new heights on the "Mad Chart" and had it not been for a good friend, body parts...his!...would have been strewn all over the auditorium!! Why...why would anyone want to be so hurtful and so stupid to denigrate someone... ANYONE...that's out here in this old world...TRYING and DOING something! My engineer for my radio show, "Wheels", is in a wheelchair after suffering numerous surgeries and...amputations to legs and hands. But there he is, everyday, running the "board" and doing a great job. He drives himself to work, gets out, gets in his wheelchair by HIMSELF, then pushes himself up the ramp into the studio...ON TIME!! We're quite a pair, me with completely worthless legs on crutches and him with loss of limbs in a wheelchair!! But let me tell you something...we produce one of the best damn radio talk show's in the Nation – no brag – that's a fact! Physical challenges should NEVER stop ANYONE from being, doing and succeeding. I've based by whole life on "trying"...and if that doesn't work...TRY HARDER!! So many people have overcome enormous physical obstacles to be successful and admired for their accomplishments. I'm proud to be one of them and "wear my old beat up legs" as a badge of honor. Remember, the word TRY really has really has a hidden message...when you TRY – you discover THE REAL YOU!
Please...I mean come on!! The democrats hung President Trump in verbal effigy this week over his supposed statement that we are taking some bad hombres from S...hole Countries,...know what??...he's right! We are taking in deplorables and the countries mentioned are, in many respects...what they were called! Where's the pride in staying and working in their country to make it better? Oh, no...we've made it too easy for them to come here and get a free "carnival ride from us"! Oh and by the way...check out some of the language used by Presidents Lyndon Johnson, John F. Kennedy and ever George W. Bush...more than salty and much more descriptive than that of President Trump's! Call it what it is...and don't back up!
