Something made me stop and turn around...This past week was one of good and happy feelings...AND...some not so good! It was a week of smiles and well wishing, happy sounds of
bells and music, the beautiful lights and bundled up shoppers, and of course, the shouts of "Merry Christmas"!! However for me, it became very solemn and worrisome. The best horse I've ever owned was seriously injured with a severe cut on one of his legs. Now Dear Reader, you must know that I AM very concerned about all of my animals and their welfare, and this accident really worried me. Deanne and I rushed him to the vet and their team of professionals went right to work in cleaning and suturing the wounds. The damage was severe enough for the vet to tell me to leave my horse in their care for a least a week...as of this writing, I'm very concerned about his recovery. The 50 mile trip trip home was especially long because of my worrying about Ole' Stinger's health. I parked the truck and trailer and Deanne went in the house to start supper and for some reason, I went back into the barn. I walked down the row of horse stalls and stopped in front of "Stinger's", nothing there but just fresh straw and a water tank. But then something forced me to look at the empty manger. Suddenly I felt hope and a warm feeling of "its going to be alright". ANOTHER manger, over 2000 years ago, was the birthing home of Jesus, and everything was going to be alright for all of mankind. I stared at that manger for a few minutes and then said a prayer and walked to the house, feeling a peace that certainly wasn't in me earlier. Something made me stop and turn around...I believe it was the Good Lord reminding me that we should all "look to the manger" and trust in Jesus...prayers and faith always make bad situations a whole lot better! Merry Christmas to you and your families from an ole' cowboy and his beautiful wife!
