Get ready...Set...Go! The race to the bottom! Every single day...when you think that some cannot possibly dig deeper into the slime pit of sleaze...they do. The so-called "Late Night" shows on TV have hosts that are now in a competition to see who can "go low" on class and destroy decency even more!
The "prize" so far goes to Stephen Colbert on CBS Late Show, his knuckle dragging inept low class humor that offended millions. His remarks, more of them beeped as not, were total gutter and really offended an old cowboy like ME! The Bob Hope's, Johnny Carson's and others, raked our former presidents "over the coals", but they did it in a very professional, classy, and very humorous way - - not so with these current "armed and dangerous" felons against decency – they're despicable!
Anything goes on TV today and you've got to wonder what will be on the screen 5 or 10 years from now. Will there be a "decency code" from the FCC or will Reality TV permeate its contamination of our values with "anything goes – anything said"?! I thought I would fall out of my Lazy Boy when I heard a Democratic Black woman say in an interview that she thought Stephen Colbert's remarks were..."hilarious"!...pathetic!
I guess its old age, or maybe...maybe I've just wised up. I use to tell jokes, I had a complete repertoire, that ran the risk of rolling off the alley into the gutter – I don't do that anymore. I like to think that God got me by the earlobe and said - "Zeb, you're better than that"!! I think it's past time that God got all of us by the earlobe and we all cleaned up our act! We didn't act and speak like this 40 years ago...why now?..it does not make us better! On my program, at the end of the show – I always say "Remember the way things were, are the way things ought to be"...we were "classier" in the past; let's hope we can be that way again!
I found a new hot sauce that absolutely has turned my taste buds around! It's a peach mango from Pace and I go through about 3 bottles a week! I put it on my eggs, my meats, macaroni dishes, chicken salads, and yes...even ice cream!! I love this stuff...and I not at all embarrassed to walk in to lunch carrying a bottle of Tums in one hand and "hot sauce" in the other!! Life is good!
