The other day I left my cell phone at home...oh woe, oh tragedy, OH CRISIS!!! I "white knuckled" the steering wheel and shouted words that in my youth, would have put a bar of Ivory soap in my mouth for 24 hours!. I've got to call so and so, I'm expecting a call from so and so, why....I'll be broke by 3 PM! Business lost!! AAAYY!!!.......didn't happen. When I did get home, I checked my calls and returned them. And did NOT suffer a world calamity...I did not have or need a cell phone 30 years ago, I did not need the "NOW" in calling or receiving a call from anyone...what changed??? Genius marketing.
With the "have to have a home computer" blitz...devious, scheming minds started developing the cell phone concept and, most importantly, how this device could be sold with literally mass hysteria of "I need it now and I want it NOW"!! It worked, boy, did it work. From texting to Facebook to Twitter and who knows what's looming, we are hooked, like a 5 pound bass, on technology and what it can do to aid our communication. But does it really help us? Will we ever be satisfied? Nope...we are addicted.
The day I left my phone to home...it was just Deanne and I, all alone in the car...just the two of us...oh my! How, pray tell, are we going to make it to Twin Falls,..no one to talk to on the phone!! SO...suddenly we had a "light bulb" moment and we started talking to...each other, in person with face to face spoken words and thoughts! What a novel idea! There were no ducks quacking (that's my ring tone) and it was pleasant...very pleasant.
I was with a good friend the other day, that very nervously checked his iPhone every 30 seconds to see if the "techno world" has passed him by!! Really?...really are we that entrenched in this "cyber jail cell" we can't take time to really see, hear, and feel the real world around us? I, for one, am going to try to lessen at least a percentage of the time I spend on my iPhone and put my time to better worth...like watching the puffy white clouds pass in front of the sun, or watch hummingbirds fly their zany flight paths at 200 MPH! Or...fall asleep watching the tip of a fishing pole waiting for the big strike...or...talking with my beautiful wife and learning and appreciating more about her and....US! Yup...I think I'll leave my cell phone at home today...YAWN!
Ignore political correctness! Ignore the stupidity of "We are all the same and we should all act the same"!...Ignore CONTROL from the left liberal loons that want to oversee your life
24-7. Ignore people that say you can't say this or you have to accept that...ignore stupidity, we'll all be better off!!!!
