Merry Christmas...Merry Christmas!! Let the joy of those words ring loud and clear
in everyone's mind and heart. I love Christmas. My mother went to great lengths
to make sure that we started celebrating Christmas the day after Thanksgiving! She
had beautiful decorations up all over the house and Christmas music playing on the
old RCA stereo. Mom was a great cook and candy maker. Her Milk Chocolate Peanut
clusters and Corn Flake Candy would have made "Big Mama" Obama tear her hair out!
We always had a huge Christmas tree, usually 10' tall and that always meant "slight
alterations" by Dad with his trusty saw because the ceiling was 8' high. We strung
cranberries and popcorn and loaded the tree with tinsel and probably 10,000 lights!
Christmas morning we'd wake up early – my eyes popped open at 3:15 AM and then I
start to make subtle noises that possibly would wake up the dead! My sister and
I weren't allowed to come down stairs until Dad came in from the barn and...as long
as he took...I didn't know that the barn was in another county! Finally...we all
gathered at the Christmas tree, said our Christmas prayer and then chaos reigned
supreme!...I'm an old man now...enjoying my children's families at Christmas...sitting
in a chair watching, smiling and remembering the warmth and love of Christmas' past...I
was given great memories, the greatest gift of all.
Don't want to get too "heavy" this Cowpies and Coffee Cups...So we'll keep it "Christmasy!"...some
'Short Takes'...worried about atheists, they really don't have any Holidays to look
forward to...no Christmas, no Easter...have to be careful about "God Bless America"
on the Fourth of July, Memorial Day's out...too much remembering and thanking God
for what our soldiers have done for us...oooh speaking of Thanks, I bet Thanksgiving
is a bummer for them..."who" do they thank?...themselves...K Mart?? Must be tough
being an atheist...nothing to hitch their wagon to 'cept maybe 'Groundhog Day'...mmm...fitting!
Put up a nativity scene at your home or business! Yes sir...Show everyone the Real
Meaning of the Season – the Birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! On my program
this year we will have a restaurant give a gift certificate for a drawn name that
stood up proudly with a nativity scene on their property..God Bless You!
Sing out loud for Christmas!! Sing those carols of "Silent Night" and "Hark the
Herald Angels Sing" and "Away in a Manger"...sing loud even if you can't carry a
tune in a horse bucket...Sing out! Go caroling, sing at your church, sing to yourself—let
people know you're glad it's Christmas and you're sharing the wealth.
Do something nice for someone...maybe someone you don't know, someone that's really
having a hard time, someone that lost their job or someone that's had bad medical
problems. Buy em' a box of spuds, or a Christmas ham or shovel out their walkway
or send them a card...whatever! Do something nice for someone else and then holler
"Merry Christmas"...it gets to be contagious.
Both Deanne and I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year. I'm going
to "skip" the Cowpies next week and start up again after the New Year! Thank you
for all your support!
Adios Buckaroos and Buckarettes!

God Bless!!
